The Rab Firewall Mountain Pertex Waterproof Jacket is a highly protective, fully featured shell designed for year-round hiking, scrambling and mountaineering in unpredictable mountain conditions. Built with lightweight and durable 3-layer Pertex® Shield fabric, it provides reliable protection against persistent rain and harsh weather while maintaining the breathability needed during demanding activity.

With a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and 20,000g/m²/24hr breathability, the Firewall Mountain Jacket helps keep heavy rain out while allowing moisture vapour to escape as you work hard on steep ascents. The fluorocarbon-free DWR finish provides additional protection against surface moisture, while the 3-layer construction offers a dependable balance of waterproof performance, durability and comfort.

The highly adjustable mountain-ready hood features a robust protective peak to help shield your face from driving rain and wind. Fully articulated sleeves provide excellent freedom of movement, while the extended adjustable cuffs are designed to fit comfortably over gloves.

Storage is provided by two hand pockets and a chest pocket, all positioned for easy access when wearing a harness or backpack. Underarm pit zips allow you to quickly release excess heat during high-output activity, while the dual-sided rear hem adjustment provides a secure, personalised fit with easy single-handed adjustment.

A YKK® AquaGuard® centre-front zip with chin guard provides reliable weather protection and comfortable operation. Built for demanding conditions throughout the year, the Firewall Mountain is a dependable all-mountain waterproof shell for serious outdoor adventures.

First, make sure you follow any washing instructions, that will be located within the garment. Avoid any Detergents or Fabric softeners, and washing machines are clean and free from any debris. [Put on a Rinse Cycle prior]

How do I Re-Proof Waterproof Jacket's or Trouser's?

First, how to know when a waterproof garment needs re proofing. When new any waterproof Jacket or Trouser in the rain the water should bead up and roll of the jacket. This is the DWR coating on the outside performing as it should.

What should i wear under a Waterproof Jacket?

What you wear under a waterproof jacket can be a very subjective question depending on what activity you are doing. A proper layering system can certainly help any waterproof jacket with its performance and breathability.


To start with a suitable base layer, Choose either a long or short sleeve wicking t-shirt such as polyester, wool or similar you will feel allot warmer and no clammy moisture against your skin. Please avoid any cotton fabrics as these can both hold moisture and take longer to dry.


A midlayer can be any of your choosing depending on how warm you wish to be. A pull over fleece or full zip fleece jacket will be ideal. If in colder weather a suitable synthetic or down insulated jacket with add further warmth however may be too warm if on a very active activity.

Can I return an item?

We can accept goods back for exchange or refund or Credit, The goods need to be of re-saleable quality and all labels and relevant paperwork are present. We will not accept any item back that has been worn, or not in a re-saleable condition i.e animal hair's, odors from smoke or fragrances, or any sign that goods have been used other than inspecting indoors.

As it’s the buyer’s responsibility to post goods back, we highly recommend using a courier with the correct insurance and proof of delivery back to us. We cannot be held liable for items lost in post.

Before sending your item back please make sure of the following

  • The item is still in a new and unused condition, free of odours and pet hairs
  • All labels and swing tags are still attached to the garment, and any boxed items are kept in the original box.
  • Any items which are blister packed are still in the condition in which they are sent.
  • Tents and canopies have not been erected and still in their original box.
  • If your order included a promotional item (such as a free gift or multi-buy offer), all items must be returned in full to qualify for a complete refund; otherwise, the value of any retained items will be deducted from your refund.
