There is nothing worse than blisters ruining a multi-day hike. Investing in premium waterproof boots is only half the battle; without the right technical walking socks to manage moisture and friction, your feet could quickly become uncomfortable. Our range of technical socks is designed to protect your skin, absorb impact, and keep you moving mile after mile comfortably.

Key Features to Consider:

Moisture Management: Synthetic blends and wool actively pull sweat away from the skin, eliminating the damp, hot environment where blisters thrive.
Targeted Cushioning: Look for extra padding around the heel, toes and Achilles to absorb heavy impacts and reduce rubbing inside stiff boots.
Anti-Blister Designs: The best anti-blister walking socks often feature a twin-layer construction. This means the friction occurs between the two layers of the sock, rather than against your bare skin.

Choosing the Right Socks

When comparing summer vs winter hiking socks, thickness is key. For high-summer walks, choose lightweight, highly breathable synthetic blends to keep feet cool and dry. For winter hiking, boggy terrain, or mountaineering, heavyweight merino wool socks provide essential thermal insulation, keeping your toes warm even if they get wet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why wear merino wool socks?

Merino wool is the ultimate outdoor fabric. It naturally regulates your body temperature (cooling in summer, warming in winter), wicks moisture away efficiently, and naturally resists odour-causing bacteria, making it perfect for multi-day expeditions where washing facilities are limited.

Do I need liner socks for hiking?

Wearing a thin, synthetic liner sock underneath a thicker wool sock is a traditional and highly effective way to prevent blisters. The liner wicks sweat outward and takes the brunt of the friction, leaving your skin completely protected.

What are the best anti-blister walking socks?

If you are highly prone to blisters, look for socks with a dedicated double-layer construction or those featuring flat, seamless toes that prevent the fabric from bunching and rubbing inside your boots.
